How To Create Calm in Your Home

When you think of how you can create calm in your home I’m sure you have a few tried and true ways to achieve it.

Some reach for scented candles or incense, while others feel the earthy pull of pot plants and flowers to smell.  Perhaps you prefer the taste of your favourite herbal tea, hot chocolate or slowly sipping on a glass of wine and dare I say a warm blanket, cosy fire and a yummy snack or box of specialty chocolates… nice!  While all these ideas sound great, and I’m sure there are plenty more you can think of, these calming go to ideas unfortunately only cater to the individual and won’t calm an entire house!

So how do you create a calm home you ask? Relaxing, calming, mentally ‘take me some place far far away’ –  Spa music!   Soothing and peaceful spa music can calm a busy and boisterous home atmosphere giving the whole family a change of pace.

If you have ever visited a day spa you would have noticed the soothing music playing quietly in the back ground as you receive your treatment.  Creating a perfect atmosphere backdrop for you to relax in to change your state of mind allowing you to let go of responsibility and relax as you are personally attended – and it can be a game changer when you share it in your home too.

In fact some music is created specifically to raise your vibrational state to assist you in healing, mental wellbeing and as a daily routine. In very simple terms, a person is basically a form of energy and energy is vibrational, and when music is played in certain keys, the sound vibrates at frequency’s which then raises your body vibration and your state of mind.  See Dr David R Hawkins Scale of Consciousness for detail.

Spa music is non-descript and un-invasive with calming benefits for everyone at home.  Here are a few examples of how you could include it in your home.

– It’s great for bed time to quieten a child’s mind – play for half an hour prior to bed, during story time, teeth brushing time etc to signify quiet time and as a lovely night time routine.  One mum in my meditation group told me how it helped to calm her children, one with  with special needs, and combined with meditation before bed it was a perfect bed time routine.

– It can be a relaxing part of the evening for adults to also shut down in the evening – especially if you work from home.

– It is wonderful to play as you meditate or do yoga to at home or even as you read.

– You can play it as you do your weekly meal prep cooking and imbue your food with happy vibes.

– Of course it is lovely to simply have spa music playing throughout your day, especially as you carry out the repetitive house jobs helping you see the value of doing those tasks that really need to be done and to help you not feel like a slave to the jobs… first you benefit and then the rest of your family will benefit because you completed the jobs everyone relies on.

– Playing relaxing music can also slow or quieted the voice in your head that sometimes runs at a million miles an hour which will help lift your spirits and give you more clarity.

For me, I also like to play spa music when I fly to cut out the drone of the aeroplane and if I have a lengthy drive.  You can also use it with the same effect on the train, bus or in the car on the way to work to set you up for a great day and on the way home from work to settle your energy before you get home.

There are definitely many ways you can create calm in your home, but for me the sound of spa music is at the top of list as a multi-tasking and soothing tool when I need it the most.  I’d like to challenge you to try it for yourself. Start with just one way you could listen to spa music and make it a routine in your home, then move forward from there – be sure to let me know your experience so we can all share in the wins on our CazCo Designs Facebook page.  Enjoy!  Caz
