From the moment you decide to buy or update your home you imagine it will be everything you hoped for. To prepare for updates, most usually start a savings plan and begin researching display homes, the latest trends and how to incorporate them, visit décor and furniture shops and specifics needed in their home. It is both exciting and challenging at the same time.
Having a goal and writing it down can actually make you up to 30X times more successful than others because you have absolute clarity of what you want and a step-by-step plan of how to achieve it. So whether you are looking to complete a home upgrade or have big dreams in other areas of your life, it makes sense to get a boost using goals!
Some people who have achieved great things using goals are Richard Branson, Florence Nightingale, JK Rowling, Walt Disney, Lady Gaga, Oprah… and you can too.
Here are a few basic statistics to get you motivated.
83% of the population do not have goals
14% of the population do have goals in their mind, but have not written them down
3% of the population do have goals and have written their goals down
And those that do have goals are between 10X to 30X times more likely to succeed than those who don’t.
You can set a goal anytime you want – you don’t need to wait for new year, just put pen to paper and your wheels are in motion. For the visual people amongst us you may prefer to use a vision board which can be either a hard copy or digital to view on any of your devices.
Go ahead and join our Design Blog to download and print a blank copy of the goal setting sheet I use called, My Goal Agreement. It is extremely easy to fill in and follow and will provide your action plan. If you have several home updates make sure you complete separate Goal Agreements for each one even if they overlap. Also feel free to expand and add extra steps that will make your plan even more detailed.
I have a goal folder for all my goals and keep hard copies of brochures and miscellaneous items that are inspiring or essential to my goal.
